About this Web Site:

CombatRifle.net

Welcome

This web site was born from the idea that casual and new shooters often have questions regarding some aspects of the shooting sport whether its about a gun or a concealed carry holster or just about any other thing you can think of. Often times these shooters can be shy, overwhelmed or possibly even intimidated to participate in typical online forums and discussions. Sometimes die hard enthusiasts forget that not everyone has made a life of shooting or cares to know every little detail. This all became apparent to me in 2008 when I introduced a few friends to shooting. Many things I know and take for granted were just not so obvious to the new shooters. A perfect example was a good friend of mine wanted to buy his first ar15. He knew he wanted one but looked to me to tell him which one because there were so many choices he was overwhelmed and frustrated. All in all it probably took about a month, dozens of calls and countless emails. Finally he settled on the Bushmaster Modular Carbine and it was the right choice for his needs. Once he had purchased the the ar15 we started the entire process over again with optics, accessories and 22lr conversion kits. It was these conversations and purchases that lead to the initial content and the basis for this web site. My goal is that there will be a little something for shooters of any experience level or discipline.

In 2009 once the weather breaks and ammo becomes available look for in depth reviews along with some images to really add some depth to this site. If you have any useful content to share I would love incorporate it into the site. Reviews, tutorials and photos would all be appreciated and naturally full credit given.

If you clicked on a link other then combatrifle.net and landed here instead I assure you I'm not being sneaky. I have more web site ideas then time to implement them. This means you the google web surfer may have landed here on what's called a "mirrored domain" Basically there's several different web site domain names that will bring you here until I can develop the l content for those individual sites. Currently the only other shooting site in progress is tactical22.net.

About me

October 31, 2008

I was fortunate enough to be born long ago enough that guns were not portrayed as evil as they are today. I was born into a family of hunters though I preferred shooting to hunting and that remains the same today. My dad had me shooting at an early age. My first gun was a Marlin Model 60 which we bought used about 30 years ago. It still functions perfectly. My dad had a Remington 870 Wingmaster and a Remington 760 .308 that he purchased in 1968 from a family member. My affection for the .308 caliber probably stems from shooting that gun. I shot target .22lr competitively in an NRA sponsored youth program in my late teens. In High School I chose a bolt action Mossberg shotgun over a class ring. It was an easy choice. After high school I was fortunate enough to work with 2 great guys who opened my eyes on handguns, concealed carry weapons and life in general (Thanks guys). These 2 friends Joe and Mac are the ones who really brought out my passion for shooting. This passion has remained constant through the years and these trying political times. Now here in 2009 I find myself taking a few young guys under my wing and passing on my experiences which I'm honored to do - Andrew
